Metalloids
Metalloids have some characteristics of both metals and nonmetals. All metalloids are solids at room temperatures. They are brittle, hard, and somewhat reactive. The most common metalloid silicon which combines with oxygen and that forms sand. The most useful property of the metalloids is their varying ability to conduct electricity.
